Reasons to Fish
Fishing is a great pass-time in both the real world AND the World of Warcraft. Luckily, fishing in WoW is nearly free and highly profitable. As you level your fishing skill from 1 to 450, you can make a fortune by selling the fish you catch in your nearest Auction House. Wow fish are used in everything from Cooking Recipes to Alchemy Potions and Quests. Derivitives from some fish are used in several Tailoring & Blacksmithing Recipes from armors to special-use items. whether you level-up your fishing skill for profit or while you work on your cooking or other professions, you will need to visit a Fishing Trainer in order to advance beyond certain skill levels.

Getting Started
Before you can begin Fishing, you need to be at least level 5 and get trained as a Fishing "Apprentice". To train beyond "Apprentice", you need to be at least level 10. Every fish or piece of "junk" you catch counts toward your fishing skillups.

Apprentice Fishing (skill levels 1 - 75)
Who can train you: ANY Fishing Trainer
Best places to fish: near or in ANY city.
Catches per Skill-up: 1 per skillup (1 - 50) | 2 per skillup (51 - 75)

Journeyman Fishing (skill levels 76 - 150)
Who can train you: ANY Fishing Trainer
Best places to fish: Most zones designed for quest levels 10 thru 30
Catches per Skill-up: 2 per skillup (76 - 100) | 3 per skillup (101 - 150)

Expert Fishing (skill levels 151 - 225)
Who can train you: ANY Fishing Trainer
Best places to fish: Most zones designed for quest levels 25 thru 40
Catches per Skill-up: 4 per skillup (151 - 175) | 5 per skillup (176 - 200) | 6 per skillup (201 - 225)

Artisan Fishing (skill levels 226 - 300)
Who can train you: ANY Fishing Trainer
Best places to fish: Zones designed for quest levels 40 thru 60
Catches per Skill-up: 7 per skillup (226 - 250) | 8 per skillup (251 - 275) | 9 per skillup (276 - 300)

Master Fishing (skill levels 301 - 375)
Who can train you: Juno Dufrain | ANY Grand Master Fishing Trainer
Best places to fish: Zones designed for quest levels 55 thru 70
Catches per Skill-up: 10 per skillup (301 - 325) | 11 per skillup (326 - 350) | 12 per skillup (351 - 375)

Grand Master Fishing (skill levels 376 - 450)
Who can train you: ANY Grand Master Fishing Trainer
Best places to fish: Zones designed for quest levels 70 thru 80
Catches per Skill-up: 13 per skillup (226 - 250) | 14 per skillup (251 - 275) | 15 per skillup (276 - 300)

Speed Leveling Fishing 1 - 450
Fortunately, fishing skill will increase ANYWHERE you fish. With every 25 skill-ups, fishing will generally require an additional "catch" per point of skill level increase. This means there is no way to speed level your fishing skill. The trick is to make your fishing journey from 1 to 450 profitable and|or practicle. Fish in places where you will NOT catch junk. Fishing Add-ons
The Fishing Buddy Add-On from www.curse.com is quite handy. If you have a fishing pole equipped, the fishing buddy will show you which part of the zone (sub-zone) you are in. It shows you how many fish need to be caught for each subsequent skill level increase. It also shows your catch rate statistics for every place you've fished.
